A Quote to Remember

“Like all fascists, the terrorists cannot be appeased: they must be defeated.” - George W. Bush

Holy crap, Bush compared the Republican Party to terrorists?

Back at you. I’ll update my blog roll next week; some of my blog friends have switches sites and I’ll add some new ones.

  2. postsimian Says:

Haha, thanks. I wouldn’t recommend linking me due to posts like this one, but I’ll welcome the exchange :D

I write in reference to the May Day fiasco. Protest and civil disobedience are not games for children to play. The horrible war in Iraq is real. The exploitation of third world workers is not a myth. If you do not have the integrity to express your social concerns in a sincere and professional manner, please just stay home so you don’t ruin it for the people who do.

If you obtain a permit to march, please remember it’s a protest, not a party. If you witness others who are breaking the rules, have the courage to confront them and make them stop or leave. The only way to truly effect change is to get others in the community to support you. The mess that happened May 1 clearly failed this task.

As for the anarchists, well, what these individuals need to understand is that they are perfect poster children for the concept that there are some people in this world who are still alive simply because it is AGAINST THE LAW to kill them.

They say they want anarchy? Well, I say we should give them what they want. Next May Day, let’s rescind all laws for 24 hours that protect people and property from harm and then let’s see how many of these selfish little, black-masked individuals are left standing at the end of the day. I guarantee you that were this to occur, the anarchists would be on their knees by noon pleading for police protection.

This is a lib writing to the Olympian to complain about angry-left buttholes farking up their protest.

  5. postsimian Says:

Anarchy is an interesting philosophy, but anarchists usually just piss me off. The vast majority of American anarchists fall into one of three categories: A) college hipsters trying to be “scene”; B) Disaffected liberal arts majors pretending to be intellectuals; C) teenagers who don’t really know what anarchy is but think they sound cool cool by saying things like “fuck the government.” Intellectual anarchists are much more responsible.

Overall, I remain unimpressed. Anarchic socialism has a good deal of promise, but the right-wing flavor of anarchists would fuck it up if it were ever implemented. But Anarchy itself, I don’t believe it could ever work in a pure form.

As for the protest, I’m personally in favor of violent, chaotic protests and/or large-scale civil disobedience. Claiming discontent has never been enough–it has to be seen to be understood. When the people being protested against fear for their safety, only then has progress been made. One caveat, though, is that it really must escalate to that point. Protests shouldn’t be initiated with a burning squad car.

Now, if these people are treating it like a party, they’re idiots who give the rest of us a bad name, and need to go back to their parents basement and continue getting stoned. However, if the organizers of the protest want to walk around and hold hands and lead people in slogan chanting like summer camp counselors, then fuck ‘em. Let their event get ruined. If they’re not going out to make a statement, there’s no point in wasting peoples time by luring them into participating in a half-hearted protest.

“I’m personally in favor of violent, chaotic protests…”

You’re truly a good Democrat then.

  7. postsimian Says:

Yay, another pointless, meritless swipe by Vonster, king of Reason.

You’re kidding me, right? It’s considerably unfashionable among Democrats to approve of this.

Hey, if you want to do battle, I’m game. But if all you’re interested in is bickering, count me out.

  8. vonster Says:

Just quoting you. Is that what it means to be liberal these days? Get pissed when people directly quote you? You’re certainly an Obama man then.

“When the people being protested against fear for their safety, only then has progress been made.”

    Wow. How civil.

Once again, with apologies to Harry, I don’t give liberals hell, I just tell the truth on ‘em and they THINK it’s hell.

  9. vonster Says:

You get points for candor though.

  10. postsimian Says:

I don’t care if you quote me, but do try to have a point when you do. Right now you’re coming off as childish.

It’s one thing to make an argument against something based on its merits. It’s quite another to consistently do what you do, which is take a quote, make some smartass remark about it, then close shop.

If you want someone to take you seriously for once, you might want to note how what they’re saying is wrong. Why does it mean ____? If you can’t answer these basic questions about what you’re ridiculing, you come off as not knowing the answer, bud. Is hollow rhetoric is the only thing it takes to be a conservative these days (cough cough), and the world is just supposed to take what you say at face value without challenging it?

Come back with something substantive or don’t bother. Honestly? If this is the best you can come up with, I’m just going to ignore you from now on. *sigh* You can lead a conservative to reason, but you can’t make him think.

  11. Vonster Says:

Your own words made my point.

You can just be dismissive it if if bothers you though.

  12. postsimian Says:

“Your own words made my point.”

Still no how or why. I expected more from you.

    “You can just be dismiisive”

    As you wish.

  13. vonster Says:

Can you read? Do I have to explain everything to you? [face palm]

  14. postsimian Says:

You just made my point Vonster.

  15. vonster Says:

    Sure I did. LOL

  16. postsimian Says:

You don’t even know what I’m talking about, do you? Speaking in vague terms tends to cause that.

Anyway, this is already old. I’ve given you the benefit of the doubt and a second chance, but you’ve consistently shown yourself to be nothing but a troll, so here’s your final warning: get a point or get lost.

  17. vonster Says:

You are like a brick wall. Bye.

  18. postsimian Says:

And you clearly have no clue what you’re talking about, ever. I’ve been civil, all you have to say is “here’s a random link that has nothing to do with the post I’m responding to” and the mentally deficient variety of “LOL WUTEVR” while vehemently resisting any request to back up your statements. Good riddance, I say.

I could give two shits about the fact that you disagree with me. Try to actually state an opinion or make an argument sometime; I don’t have the time or interest to squeeze one out of you. The most we’ve gotten is “LIBRULS R BAD”… and that’s it. It’s as if you’re utterly incapable of scratching beneath the surface on any topic. At best, it’s a continuous game of “gotcha,” and your gotcha’s all tend to have a common trait: low-quality.

It may not have occurred to you, but you, Limbaugh and Hannity saying it does not make it so. If anything, you people have done nothing but damage to your cause. Honestly, it is the definition of irony that you use phrases like “Obamabots” when you’re nothing but a bunch of Limbots and Hannitrons.

Really! There’s positively no variance between you hardcore wingnuts. It’s like you were made in a factory somewhere, and each of you fit the exact same mold: all symbolism, no substance. When everybody thinks the exact same thing, it’s a pretty accurate indication that nobody is actually thinking.

Anyway, get a clue and try again if you like. Until them, I’m just ignoring you.
