UPDATED: Obama to Make Appearance in Springfield

This Saturday, 8/23/2008, Barack Obama and his to-be-announced running mate will be holding a rally in Springfield, IL where he announced his candidacy for president.

Naturally, I’m interested in attending this event. Unfortunately, nobody seems to know when or where it’s going down. In all the news sources I’ve checked so far, including the Journal Star, the Washington Post and MSNBC, no venue has been officially announced.

I called the Illinois Democratic Party and was referred to the Obama for America campaign…. and they didn’t know either.

Anyway, looks like I’ll be in Springfield this Saturday. Anyone interested in tagging along?

AP - Barack Obama’s newly minted running mate will be hitting the trail with the Democratic hopeful Saturday. A senior Obama adviser told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity Tuesday that Obama and his veep choice will appear together IN FRONT OF THE FORMER STATE CAPITOL IN ILLINOIS where Abraham Lincoln once served.

Yes, he’ll be at the Old State Capital. Not going, I’ve met him already when he was here at our courthouse, got his autograph on a self-made Obama ‘08 sign I made, and I send money monthly. There’s a party, Saturday though, that I refuse to miss! :)~

Dude, Flam TOLD you he was coming to the party. It’s our own autograph/meal/photo op and it won’t cost ya a dime!

tls - thank you much. I had a hunch it might be at the old state building, since a few articles referenced it was where he launched his campaign, but nothing stating that was the de facto location. Now all I need is a time! *search*search*search*

Linda, which one of you is wearing the mask?

It’s the experience, Rix, the experience.

Have a great time. We saw Edwards up in Green Bay and Obama last time he was in Peoria…it’s a pretty cool experience!
