Religion is toast. It’s just a matter of time. How can any thinking person believe such bs?

That’s just it–thinking people are outnumbered by superstitious and/or gullible people. It’s good that there are more and more people thinking rationally, but the religious quacks have at least kept pace.
Obama doesn’t strike me as being particularly religious. Seems like a casual churchgoer. Obviously, when asked questions about it he’s going to say “yay Jesus” because of the grip Christianity has on our culture.
Frankly, I don’t know enough about what he believes to make a judgment on it. Creation v. Evolution, biblical infallibility, how literal are his interpretations, no clue. The questions, to me, tend to separate the religious rationalists from the fundie nutbags.

Obama: the church he used to belong to was the UCC church, often jokingly called “Unitarians Considering Christianity”. Their beliefs are about as non-dogmatic as you get in a mainstream church.
Sure, I’d love it if an atheist who was as outspoken as, say, Richard Dawkins were to be elected (if they were a potentially good President), but that isn’t going to happen in the near future.
If the US of A (on the whole) really believed that candidate X was an atheist, X would get beaten in a super landslide.

Wow, if that teacher was teaching my kids, I’d pull them out of her class and complain to the school board and the administration.
