Yes, he'll be at the Old State Capital. Not going, I've met him already when he was here at our courthouse, got his autograph on a self-made Obama '08 sign I made, and I send money monthly. There's a party, Saturday though, that I refuse to miss! :)~

Once again, McCain sounded schmaltzy and as though he was on the stump the whole time whereas Obama came off with his usual charm and made it look like he was actually talking to Warren instead of campaigning to the audience. Very different styles, but yes, with the same goal: the evangelical vote.

I can't think of any other modern Western country which makes "how much do you love the Jewish Zombie" a campaign issue or a qualifying factor in an election, yet here we are pandering to religious crazies. In a secular society--especially for a secular government--religion should not be an issue, but they were pitching the questions anyway.

I don't think Rick Warren did a bad job at all, nor do I think he held a one-sided interview. But honestly, many of his questions were softballs for both candidates, and though it wasn't anything near what I would consider a Jesusfest, the proverbial dead horse was carted out onto the stage anyway.

I agree with you on the last part, though. If there's an actual debate going on, whoever is asking the questions shouldn't have an agenda. This basically rules out churches, Fox News and MSNBC from hosting any presidential debates in the fall, but somehow I doubt that'll happen. Regardless, both candidates need to be honestly called out for the things they've said on the campaign trail in at least one of these debates; that includes Obama's missteps and all the various McCain embarrassments that have essentially been ignored, and both candidates' flip-flops.

If the primaries are any indication of what's to come, I somehow can't see us getting past "Is Obama a Muslim?"

Obama and McCain talked with that pastor guy because they are both trying to ingratiate themselves to evangelical voters. It is not like this was one of the official debates or like anyone watched it. I don't see it as much different from a campaign speech. I agree that religious people with an agenda should be running the actual debates, but neither should NON-religious people with an agenda.
